Coach Houses Coming to West Vancouver
West Vancouver council has OK'd coach houses to go to bylaws.
Despite concern about effect on community character, coach houses have been given the green light by West Vancouver council.
Draft bylaws are now being written up, covering allowable size, height, style and location on lots. After these documents are finished, another public consultation is expected in November before council finalizes the amendments to West Vancouver’s official community plan and zoning.
There are concerns about land density, green space, and character, but there are also issues on heritage homes being torn down to make way for increased square footage, and the need for affordable and more rental properties. Are coach houses the right solution?
